Making Your List, Checking it Twice: What to Bring to the ER
'Tis the season for festive gatherings, twinkling lights and, yes - the occasional holiday mishap. While we hope your celebrations stay accident-free, Grady's Emergency Department is here 24/7 just in case Uncle Jimmy's attempt to be Santa leads to an unplanned chimney inspection or little Susie decides to taste-test her big brother’s new Lego set.
When visiting the ER, being prepared with the right information will help our emergency team provide faster, more efficient care.
If the situation allows, please try to bring these items with you to the hospital:
· Your ID and insurance card
· A current list of medications
· Your medical history
· Any essential medications you take daily
· Recent medical records if you've seen other doctors
· Notes about what you've had to eat or drink
(But please leave your pets at home. We can’t help Sparky if he jumps up on the kitchen table and eats Aunt Betty’s entire fruit cake.)
Our Emergency Department is the most experienced in Georgia, ready to handle everything from minor injuries to major emergencies. So, while we hope to not see you, you can rest easier knowing you’ll be receiving care from Atlanta’s best and most comprehensive emergency and trauma care team.
