Delta Dental grants $75,000 to Grady Expanding Oral Care Access for All

Grady Health Foundation has recently been awarded a grant of $75,000 from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation. This funding, made possible through the Access to Care Grants Program, is dedicated to securing and increasing access to quality, affordable oral health care across the 15 states and Washington, D.C. The Community Care Foundation has provided critical financial support for oral prosthetics for three consecutive years.

The Oral Health Center operates in Grady’s renowned Ponce De Leon Center - the nation’s largest, most comprehensive facility for treating advanced HIV/AIDS. The Oral Health Center was created to provide critical oral health services to individuals who might otherwise have no resources. This funding from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation will help provide removable and fixed dental prosthetics to patients who would otherwise be unable to afford such crucial care.

“Every person deserves access to quality healthcare regardless of their background, circumstances, or ability to care. By expanding access to care, we are not only improving the health of our community but transforming the community for generations to come,” said Joselyn Butler Baker, president of Grady Health Foundation. “We are most fortunate to have such a committed community partner in this most important effort.

Since 2011, the Community Care Foundation has contributed more than $130 million to local community partners. The goal of these partnerships is to increase access to care, address health disparities, drive health equity, and promote innovation in the oral health field. Through this strategic grant, Grady can continue to provide indispensable services to the most vulnerable in the community it serves and positively impact the lives of more individuals.

The lack of adequate dental care represents a significant unmet need among patients living with HIV/AIDS, added by underlying medical conditions and compromised immune systems.

Georgia, in particular, currently leads the nation in HIV rates for both adults and adolescents. Atlanta is the epicenter of this crisis, underscoring the urgent need for comprehensive and accessible care for those affected and the importance of resources like The Oral Health Center.

Grady Health Foundation believes in the power of compassionate care and is honored to play a role in expanding access to care to everyone who calls Atlanta home. By providing dental care to patients, we will not only alleviate immediate health issues but also empower them to lead fuller, more confident lives.
