Bank of America Grant Expands Mobile care

For thousands of Atlantans with limited mobility, getting to medical care can be a significant challenge. That's why Grady's Mobile Integrated Health program brings medical care directly to patients' homes. And now, thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Bank of America Foundation, this vital service will reach even more people who need it.

Through a dedicated fleet of SUVs staffed with EMTs and other health care professionals, the program brings essential medical services to nearly 5,000 patients annually who might otherwise need to call 911 or visit the emergency room. These skilled professionals provide medical equipment like scales and blood pressure monitors, review discharge instructions, and perform point-of-care testing - all in the comfort of patients' homes.

For people managing chronic conditions, this personal attention can make the difference between maintaining their health and requiring hospitalization. "Patients of the program tend to be high utilizers of emergency services, often due to a lack of resources," notes Molly Reynolds, an Advanced EMT with the program. Without this mobile support, many patients would struggle to monitor their health conditions properly, leading to preventable hospitalizations.

"Our partnership with Grady Health Foundation demonstrates how Bank of America is taking action to provide the resources and support for Atlanta to thrive," said Al McRae, president, Bank of America Atlanta. Through their generous support, even more members of our community will receive the care they need, when and where they need it most.
