16 Grady Staff Awarded Prestigious Scholarships to Become Registered Nurses
Sixteen Grady team members have been awarded full scholarships to pursue their dream of becoming Registered Nurses (RNs). This life-changing opportunity comes through the prestigious Reach for the Stars Nursing Scholarship Program, a national initiative launched in 2016.
Since its inception, Reach For the Stars and its donors have been dedicated to awarding scholarships "in honor of family members who were nurses and all of the nurses making a positive contribution to society." The scholarships cover all educational expenses including tuition, materials, supplies and even parking.
Grady was honored to be one of only 12 hospital systems whose staff received the awards this year, further reinforcing the high caliber of our medical team.
Like most states across the country, Georgia continues to face a nursing shortage. The state currently has 17 percent fewer nurses per capita than the national average and will need an additional 6,600 nurses by 2030 to meet patient demand.
That’s why Grady is committed to training the next generation of nurses who will provide our patients – whether in the hospital, at our clinics or in the community – with exceptional medical care. Eliminating financial barriers through these and other scholarships opens the door to a nursing career for people who are passionate about joining this vital profession, regardless of their economic background.
